Bienvenue et Welcome to Hashtag Hockey: Season 3!

Oh hey everyone, you remember me don’t you? I feel a little bit like the guy in this commercial…stumbling around, disoriented, disheveled, squinting into the light. “Hashtag Hockey? Yes…I was called that once…”

So this upcoming year will be the third season I’ve been doing analytics and stuff for the Wild, and for the second straight offseason I basically hibernated from my posting and podcasting. The truth is my day job as an evaluation consultant operates on the academic calendar so May through June is when I have about sixteen annual reports due. They tend to linger into the summer so as I have to write more eval reports, I tend to write less about hockey. But, I am working on balancing things and I am recommitting to more content on this here web log.

Also, as you may have noticed, the site looks a little different. I migrated from wordpress.com to a self-hosted site. This will allow me to do a lot of cool things, and even hopefully some neat programming-type things that I can’t go into detail about right now.

Here’s what you can expect this year from me. First, I’m firing up the podcast soon, with some format changes. The solo format was okay but let’s call a spade a spade, I think I’m sort of boring when I’m just talking into a mic by myself. I really enjoyed interviews so I will continue to do them as much as I am able. Also, I will be joined by Dan Ginter who is one of my oldest friends and my favorite guy with to talk hockey. I want the podcast to be accessible to more than just Wild fans so we’ll try to cover league-wide news and topics. Plus, I’d like to expand to pop culture stuff…music, movies, video games, comics, general nerd stuff. Oh yeah, fantasy hockey too.

Right now I have more ideas than time so I can’t really promise anything except that I will do everything I can to regularly put out content, somewheres in the neighborhood of 5-7 posts a week.

Thanks for reading and I hope you will stick with me as I rebuild my platform!
