Sort of a stream of consciousness for tonight’s renewed rivalry game against the Canuckleheads…

  • Betting we’ll see some hard-hitting hockey tonight, there is no love lost between these former division rivals
    • Fast pace early in this game…I have to think this style favors the Nucks, let’s see if the Wild can slow it down a little
    • Are the Wild doing something different with their sweater laces? They have a cool horizontal look instead of the criss cross. I like it a lot
    • Brodziak gets the puck shorthanded, skates down and fires on Luongo, forcing a DZ PP start for VAN
    • Oh, and then Brodzy draws a penalty! How do you like that
    • Aggressive PP goal, puck loose–Suter comes down to play it, Koivu gets a stick on it, and Parise ends up knocking it in. Good heads-up play all around
    • Fans cheering a little louder for this fight than some recent ones I’ve seen
    • Granlund could be back as early as Thursday. Can’t come back soon enough
    • Now Cooke gets slashed and the Wild go back on the Power Play. After the dearth of calls Minnesota has been suffering it’s good to see some (deserved) penalties getting called
    • Spurgeon with a BEAUTIFUL play, holds the zone and a perfect cross ice pass, setting up a nice opportunity by Pommer
    • Harding with a gutsy two-line pass right to Heatley who gets off a slap shot
    • A good looking goal on the rush by Koivu, Parise crashes the net to open the lane for the pass and Coyle receives it and buries it
    • Look for the Canucks to really turn it on here at the end of the game, need to see Minnesota match their intensity
    • Suter and Spurgeon playing on a line together late in this game. Didn’t work out well last year but Yeo trying to spark the offense apparently
    • Wild doing a good job keeping Vancouver to the outside and not letting them set up in the zone
    • Haula with a good shot from the wall, a bit unexpected and Luongo is barely able to get it. Late in the game, throw it on net and see what happens
    • ALL Minnesota for the last five minutes and the start of the OT period, three solid chances in the first couple minutes. Not sure how Koivu missed that chance
  • Image of the night: Nordy doing some serious trolling…
